Hui Lin Medicine Buddha Meditation Center is dedicated to promoting the overall health of one’s body, mind and spirit.  With heritage of both Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism and expertise in Chinese Medicine and Tibetan Medicine, Master Xing Hai founded the Center in 2006 in the heart of Chinatown of Portland, and later relocated to the present SE Portland site in 2015.  With great compassion, Master named the center “Hui Lin”.  The word “Hui” (慧) is Guru’s hope that all the meditation practitioners who have heard or practiced his teachings will achieve the profound wisdom.  “Lin” (霖) means that Buddha and bodhisattvas’s Dharma teachings will be taught to all sentient beings as nectar showering the earth.

The Center holds regular Dharma ceremonies and various non-religious activities to promote the well-being of the members in the Portland community.  From the very early days when Master Xing Hai started teaching in Portland, he has taught his disciples and the public various topics including non-denominational as well as religious meditation, Buddhism and cultural education.  As a licensed TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctor, he treated various illnesses and medical conditions and led various charitable giving and activities including holding annual Dharma blessing ceremonies at the famous Dragon Eye Dotting Ceremony for the City of Portland every March.  Every Spring, Guru holds annual Amitabha Ceremony to pray for the deceased to be elevated to Pure Land at Lincoln Memorial Park.  He holds annual meditation retreats and teaches medical and nutrition classes regularly.  He also promotes cross cultural exchanges and invites eminent & elder monks to Portland to give Buddhism teachings.   Hui Lin’s members also teach cooking classes and hold regular weekend services open to public.

The non-religious and Buddhism teachings taught by Master Xing Hai benefit all those who attend the Hui Lin Center.  Under the leadership of the Guru, members of the Hui Lin Center are committed to carrying forward Buddha’s broad and profound teachings and disseminating and educating others to learn meditation practices to achieve physical, mind, and spiritual health and begin the path to enlightenment.
